Founded in 1899, Mount Ida College is a small, private college in Newton, Massachusetts, just minutes from Boston which provides career focused programs built upon a strong foundation in the social sciences, humanities and the arts, all developed and implemented to prepare our approximately 1,400 students for success in their chosen fields of endeavor.

The purpose of the position is to support academic outcomes for School of Design Students by facilitating access to art and design technologies. These technologies range from cameras and photography studio equipment, to large format digital printing, to computer labs, and 3D imaging. The Center for Arts and Graphic Equipment is looking to expand our knowledge base as it relates to emerging digital imaging technologies including but not limited to 3D printing and laser cutting. Flexible, but regular hours to be scheduled between 8:30am-9:30pm.

Essential Functions:

  • Provide professional service to students and faculty
  • Facilitate check out of equipment and technology to students, faculty, and staff.
  • Produce professional digital 2D prints and 3D prints, dry mounts and Laser cuttings.
  • Provide support for student and faculty computers and technology.
  • Support CAGE & Studio Manager in maintaining computer based labs and studios.
  • Collaborate with Technology Services and facilities.
  • Maintain regular open hours.
  • Other tasks as assigned.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelors degree in an art and design related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Reliable self-starter with excellent customer service skills.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • The Center for Arts and Graphic Equipment will employ a Technician who has an interest in and is knowledgeable about the use of Art and Design technologies related to school of design majors – Interior Architecture, Fashion Design and Merchandising, Graphic Design, Photography, Interactive Media, Game Art and Animation, and Digital Visualization.
  • Candidate should have a familiarity with computers and digital ink-jet printing.
  • Familiarity with 3D printing and photography a plus.
  • The ideal candidate will be interested in growing their knowledge if art and design technologies.
  • The ideal candidate must be able to provide excellent service to students and faculty.
  • Candidate should be prompt, responsive, reliable, self-starter, professional in their relationships, and process excellent customer service skills.
